WARNING: SEX, GORE, VIOLENCE...
you name it, really.

First thing is first. The year 209X A.D. has brought infertility to the world, along with every other sexual disorder one can really think of - especially gender confusion. With men choosing to live as women and women as men, there was a significant lack of reproduction, leaving a rather significant dent in the population. As a result, scientists scrambled - harried by the possible thought of extinction and the panic that would insight in people. They were almost desperate to come up with a solution for this problem, be it making males fertile and susceptible to pregnancy, or females able to inseminate other females.

That, however, didn't quite work. And thus the scientists went in a different direction - one that involved taking other species that were fertile and breeding off of them. Now, by other species I don't mean a different race, or even aliens. I mean animals - big animals. Farm animals, zoo animals. And that was far more successful, producing human looking children capable of speech, communication and learning, pretty much everything that makes a human a human.

Although, with every new advancement in science comes those who oppose it strongly. In this case, it simply seemed to be the whole population of the world. Half breed children are viewed as an abomination, shunned from others who are "pure" human and normal. Places like school and parks are points torment and abuse for the half breed children, who are rather easy to spot in a crowd (either because they resemble the animal they were born of, or because they aren't aware they should share such information). For example, the eyes were a very significant point when it came to half breeds, most given an unnatural eye color or slitted pupils. Yukito, for example, is justified as a half cat because not only are she and her sister described as having a 'rough cat tongue', but they also both have reasonably pointed ears, rather unnaturally so, and slitted pupils in their wide, wide eyes. I suppose on could also reason she is a feline for her picky, finicky nature - and reason she is a childish feline by her resistance to do anything sexual. Yukito is definitely not in heat.

However, Yukito and her twin sister Akito never really suffered the brunt of this sort of anger from people as much as others - disappeared and Leo, her love and friend, did for sure and it shows in their rather sour personalities and anger management problems. That doesn't make her oblivious to the fact that only a select few people like or accept her or her kind, and that those select few people will usually only be her kind.

For all the animosity showed toward half breeds, Yukito has a surprisingly sweet personality and a kind disposition. Her first appearance in the manga is after her twin sister died from an overdose of Fire Candy drug (a liquid drug that only half breeds can get high off of, but in turn makes them die prematurely in something akin to an explosion or implosion, as if an acid ball built up inside them and caused their entire body to melt) and she's seen talking to Leo, asking if his best friend and her sister's lover Ryo is okay. Yukito is head over heels in love with Ryo, and while Akito was alive, she never really said much about it. In fact, she didn't really run with the gang of half breeds that Ryo and Leo piolet. She was a 'good girl' as far as half breeds went, and had never even touched the drug that had killed her sister - the drug so many half breeds lived on.

In Leo and Yukito's next meeting, he all but forces himself on her. When a half hits puberty, the rush of hormones coupled with the animalistic urge to reproduce makes sex a rather large part of their lives, and occupies a lot of their thoughts. And while Leo is rather determined to lose his virginity, Yukito is of the opinion that it is something special, something to save for someone you really care for. And, with that in mind, while Leo is feeling her up, Yukito shamelessly kicks him in the nuts.

And hard.

The two have a very short, but very heartfelt conversation about sex in general, and how Yukito is a virgin. She's proud of that fact - and she wishes to remain a virgin until she meets someone special. Or, as she has already met that someone special, until she can give it to that person. Leo doesn't quite seem to share her views on virginity, but hears her out before leaving the house they generally call home (to go and seek a prostitute after visiting the hospital and getting money for allowing doctors to test his blood and stuff). This generally leaves Yukito alone, although technically Ryo is in the bathroom he hasn't come out of since Akito's death; he's been drinking fire candy, jacking off, and other general activities that he hopes will drown the sorrow.

However, being in love with him, Yukito just simply can't let herself to allow this to happen, and seeks him out. She tries to talk, tries to be cheery, but seems to ignore most of her conversational tacts, remaining much like a dead fish, even as she ran him a bath and practically rolled the boy into the tub. Ryo remained mostly quiet, even as Yukito chatted and washed his hair tenderly, lovingly, in fact, and while she was enjoying the slight act of domestic bliss, Ryo was battling demons - inner demons that related back to their recently departed lover and sister. And only so many can overcome demons of that magnitude, and seeming to have had a psychotic break, Ryo stands up, embraces the female washing him - while naked - and calls her Akito, seeming to think his dead lover had reappeared.

Ryo then proceeded to lower the both of them to the ground, tugging off her shirt and continuing with the foreplay he would have gone about with when having sex with Akito, only now calling the girl under him by the wrong name. Yukito, virginal and in love with the boy atop her, seemingly can't battle or comprehend her feelings to the point where she can do much else but lay there and cry, taking it even as her heart broke. It's hard - think of what it must have been like for Wendy in Sin City to be called Goldie by the man avenging her sister's murder? Think of the displeasure being called by the wrong name caused the Hitachiin twins in Ouran High School Host Club? Well, it was very much like that, only doubly hard for her to reach up, cup Ryo's face and tell him to stop. She had wanted this, hadn't she? To be physically loved by the half cow boy, right? But that didn't quite make this fulfilling, not when she wasn't being treated as herself, and thus not loved as herself.

Heart broken, and having just extricated herself from under the broken boy, Yukito dons her cloths again, and chases after the gang. She feels utterly horrible, used, and thrown to the side like she wasn't good enough for him, no where near as good as her sister had been. And that hurt as well. She, like Ryo, wanted to drown her sorrows, and maybe in the process make herself more like Akito in the end. It took a fair few tears, some violence and some harsh words to convince the rest of the gang (later to be named the Jammy Angels) to hand over the drugs, but she's eventually proffered the vile of fire candy - it was the same drug that took her sisters life and thus destroyed Ryo's psyche. But what could it hurt, right? Her reasoning is skewed as she raises the vile to her lips, and is about to take her first hit when -

-bam -

...No, not a gunshot. But a shout - a demand to stop, and recognizing that voice that had spoken so tenderly to her - well, maybe not her, but her sister - earlier, and Yukito utterly froze up. She could have sworn that Ryo had remained in the house, or perhaps that's what she had expected after finding him so far gone when she'd gone to speak and nurture him, only to end up being sexually assaulted for lack of a better word. But no - he was there, the first reappearance he'd made in front of their whole gang, and looking very much alive. Alive and mad.

He snatched the vile of the drug from her hands, and spared no time in reprimanding her for her stupidity - didn't she know this stuff was deadly? That it'd kill her? And he didn't want to clean up another of his friends, or leave her for someone else to clean her up. And you know what? Well, Yukito started crying again.

Because while she'd felt utterly unloved and dejected while in the bathroom, it takes a special degree of affection, if not friendship, to care about someone enough to scream at them for nearly gambling with their life, and she could sense that. Yukito's got a keen sense for emotions, and while sometimes it can irritate her to the point where rationality is lost, or when happy tears course down her cheeks, it is a good quality to have, especially in a world where people are almost as fucked up as feral animals.

And, speaking of feral animals... It appears Yukito not only has to compete with her dead sister for Ryo's attention, especially when a prostitute named Haru turns up. As it turns out, Haru is not only a prostitute, but a male prostitute - a very girly man, but a man all the same and not shy about showing it - and a male prostitute that Leo mistook for a girl and was just about to have sex with. Of course, that doesn't really concern Yukito; his sex life is not really any more of her concern than hers is his. But the point is, Haru is a bit of a fanboy. And who for?

Ryo.

And upon their first meeting (Haru's insistance, that Leo take him to meet the gang), the silver haired, quarter-lynx darts forward and plants possibly one of the biggest, wettest kisses upon Ryo's lips. Just about everyone is shocked, if not enraged as Yukito is, and proceeds to all but shove Haru off her love before shouting at him. Of course, when she finally deduces that he's male, that doesn't improve her feelings toward the boy - well, man - and she adopts the not too friendly nickname for him: "Fag!"

Well, all variations of "fag", really. And he adopts "Fatty" for her. The two have a rather pointed argument revolving around a still stunned Ryo, who can't seem to get over what just happened. Somewhere between calling each other names and declaring their affection openly for Ryo, Haru decides he wants to join their gang and Yukito, whom had already been preparing to do the newbie tradition of skating toward a brick wall with high powered skates (the point being they couldn't turn away or try to avoid the crash), turns toward him with utter displeasure for the prostitute and challenges him.

So now, what would have originally been a test of courage has become a race, and one with more than friendly competition behind it.

Yukito had donned her sister's high powered skates while Haru, whom had been a part of a gang before, had his own set. The scene is set and they're the approved distance away from the wall and ready for take off. And when the signal is given, Haru and Yukito set off - although neither of them know that the whole thing has been rigged, always had been, where the skaters are just given enough gas to make them go fast for a fair few yards, but to completely run out of gas by the time they reached the wall; it's really not a test of enduring a crash with a brick wall, but rather bravery, who is brave enough to race at maximum speed toward a wall that could surely kill them if they impacted with it. While the rest of the gang is off to the side, providing this knowledge to the audience, Yukito takes the lead, beating out Haru as his skates start to run out of gas.

He's pretty quick to figure it out, but also then cannot deduce why Yukito is still barreling toward the wall at full tilt. Of course, he doesn't get much time to think this out, nor comprehend that she's wearing her death defying sister's skates - ones Akito had tampered with to make her the faster, and give her the rush of life that came from driving too fast whenever she skated. No, Haru has no time to think of this, nor to let the animosity he feels toward her for getting all up in his face and shouting at him get in the way of his rather displaced (only displaced when considering his true personality) need to keep her from making a fool - and paste - out of herself. So the silver haired man races after her, and by this time the rest of her crew has realized something's wrong, and they're all rushing toward the hurtling girl. But, ultimately, Haru reaches her first, and using some rather brilliant cat-like reflexes, is able to turn them, their skates colliding first on the brick wall and the two of them rolling up the wall for a good few feet before hurtling downward, onto their asses. Or, Haru's whole body, and her knees.

Yukito, being the slightly stupid and impulsive girl she has the potential to be sometimes, had been skating with her eyes closed, willing herself to not look, and not chicken out, and thus only realized that something was wrong when she picked herself up off of Haru's crumpled form underneath her. It's easy to figure out what went wrong, however, and after a moment or so, Yukito starts to yell at an unresponsive Haru, telling him to wake up, asking if he's alright, and eyes tearing up. No matter how much hatred she showed toward the man, she just can't seem to hate him now, not when he's so weak and wounded beneath her and -

...Of course, then Haru reaches up and grabs her breasts, molesting her as he mutters that she should lose some weight, and that she was a fatty. Again with the name calling; obviously, Haru is a mature adult with a dead wife and a baby girl being raised by some unnamed side character.

Yukito is quick to anger. And almost immediately slinks off to the side to mope for a moment as others help Haru to his feet. Thanks to him and her knee pads, she barely had a bump, but that didn't keep the purple haired girl from rounding on the silver haired lynx eventually, and calling him a "fag" again, with all the vehemence above any she'd expressed thus far. Of course, this time, Ryo being the big boy in all of this, turns on her and reprimands her sharply - as he had when she'd been wanting to try drugs. And, of course, her heart being almost utterly dependent on the half oxen, Yukito took his words seriously, feeling almost as dejected as she had earlier when he'd been calling her by Akito's name. And of course, it wasn't the same calliber, but it always hurts to think that the one you love is either too preoccupied with your sibling, or replacing you with someone you look down on.

And the next time we see Yukito, she's providing more fanservice than a anime girl body pillow. She's naked, in the shower, and seemingly intent on thinking. Thinking about big concepts; about Ryo, love, Leo, Haru...What it means to be a half and be exiled by the population, unable to have a real life - nor expected to. That thought sort of bothers her, more than it seems to any of the boys who run with her gang; a majority of them are very intent on living life to the fullest, going and going until they die or just can't go anymore. It's a very similar story that most teenagers have, thinking they're on the top of the world. And, like most teenagers, Yukito also seems to be maturing faster than these boys.

Dressed in a towel, she dries off and retreats into her bedroom, sitting before the full-body mirror and staring at herself - her face mostly, where she can still see traces of Akito. Akito was the older sister, the older one who set the example, and while they were only a few minutes apart, that made all the difference in the pecking order. Akito had lost her virginity first, and died first, and that was really all that defined the relationship of older and younger between sisters, wasn't it? But, that didn't make them any less of sisters.

Yukito has some sort of vision, in which Akito appears in the mirror and speaks to her little sister, essentially sharing the story of her first sexual experience and her short, but sweet, relationship with Ryo with her little sister. It was a normal sister thing to do; to share. And when Yukito confesses the reserves she as about even kissing, and wants to just kiss Ryo, Akito comfortingly tells her little sister that she and Ryo kissed lots - and everywhere, all over their bodies, and that there wasn't anything wrong with kissing when it has that much passion behind it. The two had just linked hands through the mirror when the doorbell of Yukito's apartment rang.

Having put on a large tee-shirt and panties, Yukito trots to the door, peering through the peep hole to find Ryo and quietly proceed to freak out. She wasn't dressed! And while modesty wasn't the biggest problem for a whole lot of her kind, Yukito has her reserves. Plus, she wants to look pretty for him, despite having been rejected so many times. Quickly dressing, she let's him in.

While they may not be lovers, nor anything too close to it, they are still friends at this point, and their conversation - centered around Ryo's inability to control his anger, nor his emotion about Akito and forget her even if she's dead - remains mostly civil and friendly until it's just too much for Yukito to bare. All this talk of her sister, all the talking she'd felt she had done with her sister just then, and the fact that if Ryo kept talking like this she'd never be able to get those kisses from head to toe that her sister had received...

And she cracks, sinking her to knees and almost outright begging him to love her, saying that she'll wait for him and, even if he couldn't love her, could he just indulge her? Just for a little bit? So she could know what it feels like to be loved back by someone she loved so desperately. But, of course, Ryo said no.

He didn't seem entirely sure when he spoke, however, and after Yukito lowered her head to cry helplessly, and finally outright rejected, he leaned in and gave her a rather shocking kiss on the cheek. It was chaste, and sweet, and probably like one of those shared between her sister and the boy, and Yukito flushed royally as Ryo turned to go and told her that she shouldn't give up on love.

And then, Yukito smiled, too.

Now, I bet you thought none of the halfs went to school didn't you. But, no - they attend a public school with the options of dorms if they haven't got anywhere else to go. Ryo and Leo reside in these dorms. And their school subjects are rather normal, their teachers human and some of their classmates human too, because while halfs are generally treated with disgust, as the governments blunder, they cannot outright be denied what other children are allowed. Not until they turn eighteen, technically. And, while Haru is very much over eighteen, he still takes steps to disguise himself as a teen and sneak into the high school, rather intent on seeing Ryo and hanging with him and Leo. While proclaiming he is straight several times in the series (mainly when referencing his wife and daughter) Haru is never discouraged in making sexual advances on Ryo whenever he can, even if they're never returned, and had just made himself comfy straddling Ryo at his desk when Yukito walked in.

She had brought them a lunch. Well, brought Ryo and Leo a lunch. But Haru seemed to tag along with them on their way to the grassy bank they ate lunch on, and since neither of the other boys seemed to be telling him to piss off, Yukito bit her tongue, simply listening to their conversation. They were speaking like friends, really, and while she made no real attempt to include herself in the conversation, Yukito felt a little excluded. Ryo and Leo and Haru were comrades, and she wasn't; her animosity toward the prostitute getting in the way of any possible relationship they might have. And while it is more of a one sided hatred on her part, having never really forgiven him for kissing Ryo like that, nor for calling her fat.

And so, the ever growing up teenager makes a seemingly split second decision, turns on her heels and bows deeply to Haru - a sign of defeat and surrender in their case. She then proceeds to apologize - as Ryo would have wanted her to do - apologized for calling him names, for acting so rude toward him, and for looking down on him as well, which she had no right to. And as she started to tear up, and sniffle and reach the end of her short speech, Yukito ventured out on a limb and even asked if he would be her friend. Her voice broke several times while saying as much.

It seems to take all three males a moment to process what she'd said, but they seemed to accept it - even like it. And Haru accepted her proffer of friendship. From then on, their name calling continued, but calling one another "fatty" and "fag" has never really had such a friendly undertone, the sort born of a friendship that has stretched for years and you're now allowed to make fun of one another. Although, at the same time, their relations are sort of hinged more on the side of two quick to anger people who aren't nearly shallow enough to hit each other where it really hurts.

They eat lunch together. And after lunch, and after school ends, Leo takes off to mope about some evil deed he did, and Ryo has a rather intense chat with another member of the Jammy Angels, and so Haru and Yukito seem intent on leaving school together. Their friendship may not be all sunshine and puppy shits, but they get along well enough, and seem amiable enough to not notice the ominous figure, one that is all too familiar to Haru by the time he comes into view; a member of Haru's old gang who assisted in the joint rape of the lynx and his wife, as well as what is lead to be believed, his wife's forcible labor and death. Needless to say, Haru and this man - Tetsu - had a lengthy, and brutal history, but that's not why he has snooped around until finding the prostitute. No, now the Jammy Angels have gone and pissed off the bosses of Haru's old gang, who are the main distributers of fire candy, and whom the Jammy Angels have attacked and stolen from more than once.

But Haru doesn't know that. Or just doesn't care. He's bitter - he's a man! His pride and love and life was all but taken away by this man he used to call his friend when he was around the same age as Yukito, Ryo and Leo. And now, well now is his chance for revenge, which he all to readily jumps at. Haru, impulsively attacking and not thinking out his moves, is easily parried by Tetsu, who then proceeds to beat the shit out of him, all the while driving home the fact that he raped his wife and that he ruined his life. It's a cruel message, made even crueler when Haru is crippled past the chance of fighting and Tetsu turns on a crying Yukito.

She's seemingly too shocked to run away or scream just yet, even as an ominous, blade wielding Testu approaches her and grabs her face. It seems his intent all along was to kidnap Yukito, and to fuck her up - because they were trying to get back at Ryo, not Haru, and the best way to get to a man's pride is to "take what's his"; Yukito supposedly being his, as she's the only girl in the gang now that her sister's dead. And with that dastardly evil plot in motion, Tetsu grabs the side of Yukito's face and forces a pill down her throat with his tongue in a messy, sloppy kiss. It's a muscle relaxer, and Yukito passes out in her enemies arms to numerous cries of "I'll kill you! I'll kill you! I'll fucking kill you!" from Haru on the ground.

When she awakes several hours later, she's on a couch, surrounded by the rival gang, all physically imposing and stronger than she, and almost all of them wielding some sort of weapon. Tetsu is there, and he's in charge of stripping her of her dignity, defiling her, and fucking her to ultimately fuck Ryo in the mind. There was a rather lengthy monologe in which this is explained to the girl before she's restrained at the foot of the couch, her hands being held above her head as her blouse is cut with Tetsu's sharp blade, and her bra follows suit.

This is scary! For all the other times she has almost had sex, none of them felt like outright rape, not when they were her best friends making the advances (even for their own reasons). But this - this was a scary man with a blade, making snide comments about her tits and any sixteen year old would outright crap themselves. But...Yukito isn't any sixteen year old and, almost naturally, she talks back to her captors, with a subtle.

"Shut up, you piece of shit."

And the world goes black as she's effectivly pistol whipped by a less than pleased Testu.
